Freeway Service Patrol offers a variety of services that assist in getting a vehicle started and back on the road. The objective is to increase safety for stranded motorists while allowing others to keep moving. Once the vehicle is off the freeway, motorists can call a private tow service, insurance company or other form of assistance. Since FSP may be the first to respond, FSP Operators are trained in first-aid, CPR, fire extinguishing and recognizing hazardous materials. The services provided include:
- Changing flat tires
- Jump starting your car as a result of a dead battery
- Radiator refills
- Making minor temporary repairs
- Providing gallon of gasoline (diesel is not available)
- Gently pushing stranded vehicles out of busy travel lanes to the side of the road
If a vehicle cannot be quickly repaired, FSP will offer to tow the vehicle off the freeway to a designated drop area.
